    Hi Thusitha

First of all, I’m very sorry to hear about you being made redundant. That must be very difficult for you. It is tough having to start all over.

I know that NDN is running a mentoring program with an intake at the moment. So maybe you could try signing up to that and seeing what advice might be available? I’ve heard good things about the program in the past and it seems like you might need someone who can listen and understands what you’re going through.

My own piece of advice is to find something that allows you to spend time doing the things that interest you. For me, that’s strategy. So I have found a career in law to be thoroughly enjoyable, even despite all of the things I don’t like about it. I think the only way I am able to enjoy it so much is because I get to spend time doing the things that mentally stimulate me.

    All the best!

    It’s so tough, isn’t it.

I have a workplace with a bit of a “if it doesn’t impact your work then we don’t care” type of attitude and even then I feel like they actually probably would 😅

But I’ve found the same too in terms of the work from home shift making it all just a little bit easier to hide. COVID was good for one thing!

    Hi Marie

This is a really interesting one for me. In just about all professional capacities no-one would realise that I have ADHD. There would be signs – like an ability to make stupid mistakes when I’m doing less interesting work – but people don’t necessarily associate that with ADHD. They just tend to think I was a bit careless.

I am also not in need of any accommodations as a result of my ADHD (at least that I am aware of!). So notifying my employer / the people I work with doesn’t seem to have any potential benefit for me.

Whereas there is definitely the stigma associated with ADHD that I don’t necessarily want associated with “my brand”. I can’t see it as having a positive association and I do not think we’re at the stage of it being viewed neutrally (not yet anyway!).

So my choice is to avoid telling anyone, largely because (for me) I do not see any current upside.
